Audacy Licenses 880 AM to ESPN New York in Major Shift

In a game-changing move, Audacy, the parent company of WFAN, has signed a deal to license its 880 AM signal to ESPN New York, effective August 26th. This development marks a significant shift in the local sports talk radio landscape.
ESPN New York will move to 880 AM, relinquishing its 987 FM signal on August 31st, 2024. As part of the deal, Audacy will transfer its digital distribution and 1050 AM rights for ESPN New York to Good Karma Brands, ESPN Radio's parent company.
ESPN New York plans to launch a full day of local programming on 880 AM, taking on WFAN head-to-head. Audacy's legendary New York station has announced the hiring of Ryan Hurley, ESPN New York's former program director, as its new brand manager.
As the battle for sports talk radio supremacy intensifies, the Nets and Audacy have also announced a multi-year extension to broadcast Nets games on WFAN.
